Rice production area in the municipality has a total of 3,172.34 hectares which makes up the 15.54 percent of the total agricultural area. Rice production areas are classified into two; irrigated which constitutes 97.64 percent of the total rice production area with 3,097.42 hectares and the non-irrigated which accounts for the remaining 2.36 percent or 74.92 hectares. Irrigated areas were usually planted by hybrid rice and other high yielding variety of rice. Rice production is among the highest gross value contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the municipality.

Banana is one of the most important fruit crops grown in the municipality of Bansud in terms of production. About 2.04% of the 20,407.90 hectares agricultural land equivalent to 416.5 hectares is planted to b anana, predominantly the saba variety. Banana production has an average of 3.0 metric tons per hectare and has a gross value of P24,000.00 per hectare. Cultivation is popular in either lowland or upland due to low cost of production usually zero -tillage farming technique. Large production areas are located in upland barangays of Conrazon, Manihala, Bato, Malo and Villapag-asa. Currently, banana production relies on traditional or natural farming system in which the product could be considered as naturally produced. Considering the vast banana plantation commonly scattered in the upland areas and the competitive quality that conquers the metro market, Bansud has been dubbed as “Banana King” of the province of Oriental Mindoro. It is for this reason that, Saba fresh banana is officially declared as the “One Town, One Product (OTOP)” of the municipality. The “One Town, One Product (OTOP)” serves as the identity of the municipality that brought great economic impact and support to the majority of the populace.

Coconut production with a total of 375.03 hectares is third in rank among crops that gives economic support to farmers. It has an average of yield of 1.2 metric tons of copra per hectares with gross value of P16,800.00 per hectare per year. Income from coconut may not be impressive enough but multiple or intercropping could be possibly facilitated. Production as been gradually declining every year due to its age and commercial coconut lumber production. It is not easy to replenish its area due to long period before its initial production stage.
