Calapan City — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR- MIMAROPA) and the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro distributed 100 motorized fishing boats to fisherfolks on June 10, 2021 at the Bulwagang Panlalawigan, Provincial Capitol Complex, Calapan City.
Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor together with BFAR Regional Director Elizer S. Salilig and Provincial Administrator Dr. Hubbert Christopher Dolor and local officials led the ceremonial distribution. Chief Presidential Legal Adviser Secretary Salavador Panelo also graced the ceremony. The distribution is part of the rehabilitation program for the Typhoon Quinta-affected fisherfolk of the province which is being facilitated by the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office.
Some 200 fishermen from the various municipalities of the province were the beneficiaries of the 100 units of 20-footer fiberglass boat with 6.5 horse-power engine and complete accessories. They were thankful of the Provincial Government and BFAR for the assistance and help them recover their affected livelihood with the new fishing boats.
Fisherfolk with partially damaged fishing boats due to Typhoon Quinta were likewise provided with plywood. A total of 5,196 pieces of plywood were distributed to 1,299 affected fisherfolks.
